Leoh Ming Pei

I.M.Pei

Leoh Ming Pei is a Chinese American architect that was born in April 26, 1917 in Canton, China.
The early projects that Pei took the leading rolls were L'Enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington, DC and the Green Building at MIT.  Then, his first well recognised construction was National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado. He then returned to China in 1974 and design a hotel at Fragrant Hills. Then in 1980s, Pei has done few well known project in different countries. They are the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong, a glass and steel pyramid structure for the Louvre museum in Paris, Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, the Miho Museum in Japan and lastly, the Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar. 

Pei has a successful careers path on the architecture field, he received a wide range of prizes and awards within this field, including the AIA Gold Medal in 1979, the Pritzker Prize in 1983,  the first Praemium Imperiale for Architecture in 1989, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Cooper- Hewitt, National Design Museum in 2003.
